Youth Department

Our award-winning youth program has four separate groups for children in kindergarten through high school, USY (9th-12th), Kadima (6th-8th), Ruach (3rd-5th), and Club Yeladim (K-2nd). At Beth Hillel Congregation Bnai Emunah we believe that providing an opportunity for our children to participate in a vibrant synagogue Youth Department plays an important role in Jewish continuity. We strive for our youth to demonstrate and experience the Jewish way of living, through study, action and fellowship in an informal Jewish environment.

Our commitment to the youth is evidenced by the continued support of youth activities supervised by a professional staff headed by Youth Director Chris Herman and Youth Advisor Jordan Prager. Susan Lieberman is the Youth Commission Chair for the synagogue and heads the Youth Committee.

Beth Hillel USY (BHUSY) and Kadima are part of the International Jewish Youth organization sponsored by the Department of Youth Activities of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. In addition to chapter programming, Kadimaniks and USY'ers have the opportunity to participate in regional and international programs. BHUSY is one of 17 chapters in CHUSY (Chicago-area USY) region. Ruach and Club Yeladim are unique to BHCBE. Being a part of Ruach and Club Yeladim is a great opportunity to meet other Jewish youth from our community, and spend time playing, learning and participating in social action projects. Membership in our Youth Department is separate from membership of BHCBE.

All of our programs offer a range of cultural, social, educational, religious, Israel, and social action oriented geared to the needs and interests of Jewish youth of each age group. We tell the children that the Youth Department is their opportunity to create something fantastic that will provide life-long memories.
