Shalom! My name is Rhonda Orenstein and I teach the Gan (Kindergarten) class at the Academy. This is my first year at BHCBE, and my tenth year teaching Hebrew and Jewish studies. I received a Jewish education throughout my childhood including attending a private Jewish day school for nine years, pursuing Hebrew as my foreign language in high school, and studying in Israel for one year. I am a professional educator and have earned both a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in special education.
This year’s curriculum has been meticulously crafted to pave your child’s path toward a lifetime of Jewish education and understanding of our religion. We have included the basic aspects of the Jewish culture and religion that will unfold throughout the year via engaging class activities. We will be learning Hebrew letters, studying the holidays, and exposing the class basic Hebrew vocabulary words. I encourage you to have your child share his/her learning experience with your family and come back with any questions that arise from family discussions.
I look forward to this year’s journey of Jewish education with your children. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!
